University of Arkansas (U of A) Online MSW Program

The University of Arkansas’ School of Social Work offers a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited, online MSW program that prepares students for supervisory positions and leadership roles in the social work profession. U of A’s online MSW program is only available full time to advanced standing students and includes a concentration in Multi-Systems Life Course. Applicants must have obtained their undergraduate degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program or a program recognized through CSWE’s International Social Work Degree Recognition and Evaluation Service.

The online MSW program at U of A consists of 39 credit hours, which can be completed in one year of full-time study. The curriculum must be completed sequentially, with foundation courses preceding concentration courses.

All of the coursework for U of A’s online MSW program is accessible through the Internet. The program does not require students to make any campus visits, however they must complete 900 hours of field placements at health services agencies in their local areas.

In order to be accepted into the program, applicants must have a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 for the last 60 credits taken. GRE scores are not required, nor is professional experience necessary. Application materials include: official transcripts from all academic institutions attended; a personal statement; a social needs paper; and three professional references, with at least one from a field instructor or field liaison. Additionally, applicants will need to have completed a basic statistics course and must demonstrate computer literacy through prior coursework. A personal interview, which may be conducted remotely, may also be requested.

U of A’s online MSW program is not available to students living in Colorado or outside the United States.
