Columbia University Online MSW Program

Columbia University’s School of Social Work offers an online Master of Social Work (MSW) designed for traditional standing students, as well as one for advanced standing students. Either program has four concentration options:

  1. Advanced Clinical Social Work Practice: This concentration prepares students for direct practice work with individuals, families, and groups.
  2. Advanced Generalist Practice and Programming: This concentration prepares students to work both at the individual and community levels by developing advocacy, evidence-based intervention, and program planning skills.
  3. Policy Practice: This concentration prepares students for policy analysis, advocacy, and research so that they can act on a societal level.
  4. Social Enterprise Administration: This concentration prepares students for mezzo and macro-level practice roles in which they can manage larger organizations such as non-profits and social service organizations or manage human resources and staff development departments within larger organizations.
